Introduction
The collection contains the most important ensemble of Catalan art from the nineteenth century and the first few decades of the twentieth. During this period a series of artistic tendencies followed each other, tendencies which took strong and singular root in our country: Neoclassicism, Realism, Modernisme, Noucentisme, the Generation of 1927 and the avant-garde. Especially relevant is the presence of the Modernista and Noucentista movements, which also include above all the first decorative arts. The tour through the collection ends with a notable group of avant-garde sculptures.
